Hi, I’m Derek Carlton, your local State Farm Insurance Agent here in Louisville, KY. I opened my office in October 2020 after gaining hands-on experience as a team member at another State Farm agency, which gave me a strong foundation in helping customers understand their coverage options and feel confident in their decisions.

Before entering the insurance industry, I earned a degree in public health from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, and spent nearly a decade working with the Florida Department of Health. I also gained experience in the automotive industry, which reinforced my interest in problem-solving and working directly with people. Ultimately, I was drawn to a career where I could make a meaningful impact and serve my community through protection and preparation.

Helping people protect what matters most is what motivates me every day. My team and I assist with Auto, Home, Renters, Life, and Business Insurance, focusing on clear communication and coverage that reflects each customer’s individual needs. With more than nine years of combined insurance experience, we proudly serve individuals, families, and businesses throughout Kentucky and Indiana, including Louisville, Lyndon, Clarksville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, and Sellersburg.

Outside the office, I enjoy running, cycling, mountain biking, clay shooting, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a lifelong car enthusiast, whether that means attending car shows, talking shop, or keeping up with the latest models.
