Hi, I’m Derek Carlton, your local State Farm Agent here in Louisville, KY. 🍂 As the leaves start changing, football season gets underway, and Halloween decorations begin popping up around the neighborhood, fall is a great reminder that another year is moving quickly—and a good time to make sure the things you’ve worked hard for are properly protected.

I opened my State Farm office in October 2020, so fall is a special time for us—it marks another anniversary of serving our customers and community. Before becoming an agent, I gained hands-on experience as a team member at another State Farm agency, building a strong foundation in helping customers understand their coverage and make informed decisions about their protection.

Before becoming a State Farm Agent, I earned my degree in public health from Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, and spent nearly a decade working with the Florida Department of Health. I also spent time in the automotive industry. Those experiences may seem pretty different, but they all had something in common: solving problems, working directly with people, and helping them prepare for what comes next.

That’s still what motivates me today.

My team and I help individuals, families, and businesses with Auto, Home, Renters, Life, Health, and Business coverage. We believe coverage should be about more than simply selecting a policy and moving on. We take the time to get to know our customers, understand what they have to protect, explain their options clearly, and help them select coverage based on their individual needs.

We proudly serve customers throughout Kentucky and Indiana, including Louisville, Lyndon, Jeffersontown, Clarksville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Sellersburg, and surrounding communities.

Outside the office, you’ll usually find me doing something active—running, cycling, mountain biking, or clay shooting—or spending time with family and friends. I’m also a lifelong car enthusiast, so I’m always happy to talk cars, whether it’s a classic at a local show or one of the newest models hitting the road.
